A large majority of consumers believe that buying 'CFC free' is making a good environmental choice.

It seems most Australians know little about how their fridge or air-conditioner works. While most people know that "CFC's" are environmentally harmful however, few realise that the common alternative to "CFC's", called "HCFC's" or "HFC's", are the single largest man-made chemical contributors to global warming!

To the rescue comes "Natural Refrigerants", named so because they are sourced from nature and have nil or negligible environmental impact. Hydrocarbon refrigerants are one kind of natural refrigerant, and HyChill are the experts in hydrocarbon refrigerants.

Hydrocarbon refrigerants are made from naturally occurring gases, and have a significantly lower impact to the environment in comparison to the current commonly used refrigerants. Hydrocarbon refrigerants are compatible with most existing systems and are easy to use.

Hydrocarbon refrigerants (R290 and R600a) are also one of the few natural gases that continue to be acceptable for their long-term environmental benefits.

Their use is becoming more common in applications including automotive, air conditioning plus commercial and domestic refrigerators. They have an atmospheric life of less than one year with no effect on the ozone layer and low global warming potential.

The hydrocarbon refrigerants produced by HyChill represent the ideal choice for a wide range of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems due to their efficiency and reliability, whilst providing excellent environmental performance.

The number of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating products using hydrocarbon refrigerants is growing rapidly. In addition, there are also applications where hydrocarbon refrigerants can be used as a replacement to the most common CFC's, HFC's and HCFC refrigerants (such as R-12 'freon', R-22 and R-502) with little or no modification.

When you're looking for a fridge, air-conditioner, heater or hot-water service, ask for one powered by HyChill hydrocarbon refrigerants, or contact HyChill for assistance.

After a comprehensive assessment undertaken by the Australian Environmental Labelling Association a selection of HyChill refrigerants have been awarded an Australian Good Environmental Choice Licence.
